6th Week in Oviedo

In our sixth week  we went to the Oviedo City Hall –where we were received by the Mayor of Oviedo himself—

We had two birthdays this week: Leah’s and Angela’s. Happy birthday to both of them! Some of us spoke on the radio and enjoyed hearing our voices on the air.

Tango is now our new hobby. We even dared to ask people to dance. We had a great time in a very healthy and self-fulfilling way.  Some of us even used our recently acquired bachata and salsa moves to excel in tango.

 

We are also getting ready for our farewell party and we’re rehearsing really hard to shine on stage while we have a good time.

5th Week in Oviedo

In our fifth week Blake (aka Blaqué) organized a ping pong tournament. All students participated in it. There were the final four, but Dani became the ping pong champion/master of the group.

Many of us have become Spaniards from Asturias. Not only did we visit the Asturias Parliament all dressed up, where we were received by the President of Asturias himself.

We had a blast in the fiesta in a nearby ecological farm as well.

We also did the descent of the Sella in canoes. We all had a great time and when we came back we were ready to go to bed.

 

Tango is now becoming second nature to us and we practice like Argentinians do:  boys know that it takes two to tango and are not uncomfortable dancing with other boys anymore, as they know that it will help them lead their female partners more easily.

 

In addition to tango, we started dancing some bachata instead of salsa this week.  Oh yes, now we’re all ready to fully enjoy our next vacation in any Spanish-speaking Caribbean island!

4th Week in Oviedo

During our fourth week, on Wednesday July 3rd, we pre-celebrated the fourth of July. We played with water balloons, translated the national anthem into Spanish and acted it out and we played the worm game.

 

We got to enjoy some hot dogs, burgers, French fries, chicken nuggets and chicken wings. The last part of our meal was a piece of cake.

 

 

On Thursday we traveled to Santiago de Compostela and visited the Cathedral, the Plaza de los Caballos (Horses Square), the  Museo do Pobo Galego (museum of the Galician People) and we had some time to sing and dance in a karaoke. Some of them dared to eat octopus (of course, they didn’t find out until later).
